As I write this newsletter and reflect on the week I’ve had, it’s very satisfying to look back and see how far I’ve taken my consulting business since April.
Last week I sat down with the CEO of a company worth 96 million dollars. They are looking at hiring me to help them get to that next level.
I helped three agents present Letters of Intent to purchase over $300,000 in revenue, which will all be closing by August.
I’m sharing this with you to help you understand that there’s never going to be a perfect time to take action, that time is now. Two and a half months ago, I had no idea what my consulting business was going to look like or how I was going to be paid. I simply had an idea and I ran with it.
It’s the same with thinking about purchasing a book of business, you can come up with hundreds of different excuses why it’s not the right time and talk yourself out of it.
The majority of the people I meet and talk to about my one-on-one consulting or The-Solution.io come up with excuses to not take action and when I help them understand the solutions to their excuses they come up with more.
People don’t care what bullsh!t excuses you’re coming up with, people who take action will be more successful than people who don’t take action.

Chapter 4: Building a Winning Team
You can’t build a 10 or 100 million dollar business when you’re doing it all by yourself.
People who are buying 10 to 100 million dollar businesses are looking to buy a BUSINESS and not just the book of business/clients.
They want to know that if something happens to the business owner, that their investment is still going to be operating and making money.
I had a conversation with a client this past week who was looking at hiring a sales manager to help them with their downline of agents. I took them through this process and it made it very clear if this hire was needed or not.
Step 1: Define Your Agency's Goals and Identify Gaps
Before you hire or let go of any staff members, you need to first determine what your agency goals are.
Where do you want your agency to be in one, three, and five years?
What do you see your role being throughout this problem?
What gaps are you looking to fill?
Once you have determined your goals and gaps then you look at hiring someone to fill the gaps which in return will help you reach your goals.
Step 2: Cultivate a Positive Culture
You figured out your goals and identified your gaps. Before you hire anyone you need to find out how this person will interact with the current culture in your office.
Every office has a culture and has a way of how they do things day in and day out.
Here’s a list of questions I recommend asking yourself before hiring someone:
Do you prefer customer service or sales representatives?
Are you looking for commission-based agents or salaried employees?
Is remote work an option or do you value in-office interactions?
What accountability mechanisms will be in place?
Will you offer part-time or full-time positions?
What benefits such as salary, commissions, and tools will you provide?
Step 3: Hire, Train, and Develop
This step is where a lot of people MISS, they nail it on the hire front but they fail on the Train and Develop side of the business.
Your job as the business owner doesn't stop when you hire someone.
It’s your job to hire, train, and develop that person so they feel like they are a part of the business.
Dan Martell says “Your dreams and goals have to be big enough to fit your entire team's dreams and goals.”
Ask yourself - are your dreams and goals big enough to fit everyone’s dreams and goals on your team?
