When self-doubt starts to set in.....

Have you ever been put in a hard position as an entrepreneur or personally?

What’s your first course of action?

For many people the first course is to blame everyone else instead of taking ownership for themselves.

Recently, I’ve been struggling with self-doubt. It’s made me think long and hard:

where’s this coming from?

Have I had this my whole life and it’s been lying underneath this entire time?

Who do I need to become to overcome this self-doubt?

What’s holding me back from achieving this?

I thought I was doing all of the right things.

I quit drinking alcohol.

I started working out and using a sauna every day.

I started journaling.

I wrote down my goals and reviewed them daily.

It was a mindset issue, our minds are programmed to always go straight to the worst case.

Why?

Why are we planning for something that may never happen? Why do you put the pressure and stress on yourself?

I needed to change this mindset and react once that “worst” case happens.

I lost my first consulting client only after 2 short months.

Right after losing my first client, I was walking on stage to give a presentation. Instead of blaming someone else, I took ownership and said control your controllables. I can’t control that decision but I can control how I’m going to deliver that speech.

As entrepreneurs we get caught up in the moment and always blame ourselves for items we can’t control.

We need to focus on what we can control.

Here’s a list of items that I think about when something happens:

  1. Leadership - did our leadership mess up? If so, report and fix the error.

  2. Product or Service - are we providing the best product/service to our customers? Are people yelling from the mountain tops?

  3. Business Plan - first, do you have a business plan? If so, did you account for this to happen?

  4. Sales Plan - do we know what works and doesn’t work? How are we approaching sales?

  5. Generate great numbers - do you have control over your numbers? Do you know your numbers? What’s the most important number for your business?

  6. Customer Service - are you providing the best customer service that your customers have ever experienced?

It’s your duty to make sure these 6 items are delivered. This is your business!
